How can technology serve humanity?
Answer: Through the use of dynamic and accessible platforms made available to all Americans, as demonstrated through REALPOLITECH’s recent inaugural project, the LINK-live Inaugural Web Gala.
LINK-live was a collaborative partnership between Mobilize.org, the LINK AMERICAS Foundation, and other non-profit organizations to promote Technology Serving Humanity. The mission was to begin a fusion of digital media, social networking and entrepreneurship to contribute to philanthropic causes worldwide in the areas of Life, Information, Nature, Knowledge (LINK).
The LINK-live Presidential Inaugural Event connected thousands of Americans on the eve of a new era in American politics. Over 2 million Americans converged on Washington, D.C. to participate in the Inauguration. LINK-live made it possible for many others in local communities and around the world to also participate in the historic celebration through online technologies.
Dynamic partnerships with UStream.tv and ScribbleLive facilitated by REALPOLITECH brought LINK-live to an even broader audience. Our interactive programming platform included the following:
- UStream.tv broadcast coverage of the event
- Live blogging through ScribbleLive
- Microblogging from across the country through Twitter
- A community built up to participation through Facebook
- Updated photos and videos throughout the evening using Flickr and YouTube
- Live audiovisual interviews calling in from across the country using Skype
